Ujima Sisters Takeover – International Women's Day, Sunday 8th March 2026 This March, Ujima Radio kicks off a month-long tribute to International Women's Season, featuring guest interviews, takeover shows, and — for the 8th year in a row — the Ujima Sisters Takeover on Sunday 8th March. This year's celebration centres around the theme of Connection and Common Ground, exploring what women can achieve together and their role in promoting peace. 10AM – 12PM Opening the day, multi-lingual rapper, singer, songwriter and poet MĀDŁY joins us ahead of this year's Seedling Sessions at Trinity Centre — a celebration of women in music, spotlighting the powerhouse women shaping our local scene. More than a showcase, it's a tribute to the women redefining what music can be. 12PM – 2PM Ujima Sisters Lynn Mareno & Muneera Pilgrim team up to celebrate International Women's Day. 2PM – 4PM We're excited to introduce a brand new show joining us on Tuesdays 6–8PM: the Rhythm & Rhyme Show, with the incredible singer Krush and poet Brink of Thought. 4PM – 6PM Documentary Filmmaker and EDI Specialist Louise Ndibwirende and Ujima Sister Miranda Rae return for the second year together to celebrate and share their roles in promoting peace and unity. 6PM – 8PM Ujima is proud to welcome back Dora the Reporter, who will be launching The Scoop — continuing on Saturdays, now extended to 2 hours, 10AM–12PM. 8PM – 10PM The legendary Ujima DJ Xcel, from Legends in the Mix (Saturdays at Midnight), brings an exclusive mix of all-female reggae artists old and new. Niece of Rita Marley and daughter of the iconic Rankin Miss P, we are so proud to have DJ Xcel on our roster. 10PM – Midnight DJ Elley Phunk closes the night with a unique mix of all-female led music — blending the best in Breakbeat, UKG, Bass, House, Oldskool, Jungle, and Techno.
